Our Camomile oil and water come from a collection of nine family farms in East Anglia, England. Pressurised steam is passed through the harvested camomile flowers to release the essential, calm-inducing oils.

THE SUPPLIER

We source Camomile oil and water from a collection of family farms that form Norfolk Essential Oils (NEO). Most of the farmers have been awarded their farms by the local government for their dedication and skills. They wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford to buy land.

THE COMMUNITY

Farming has become difficult, but small farms are important for the landscape. NEO farms provide essential nesting, habitats and food for rare species. They also help to provide education for the next generation of farmers and solidarity through difficult harvests.

KEN GOODGER'S STORY

Ken and his family have a farm that is part of NEO. His wife, son and daughter have been involved over the years and both children are pursuing careers in the agricultural industry. Ken’s son has also been awarded tenancy of a 200-acre farm by Cambridgeshire County Council.

BABY BLUE CAMOMILE

The Camomile flower’s essential oil is a pale blue colour. The aroma has been likened to ‘apples and straw’. In fact, Camomile gets its name from the Greek for ‘ground apple’.

A LITTLE HELP FROM NEO

The 1990s was difficult for British farmers due to larger industrial-style agribusinesses. Forming the co-operative NEO allowed farmers to diversify their income by entering the cosmetics market.
